Kenya the country of champions...Running in the Jungle !

Following the stats from my recent posts on the highly publicized wedding engagement of Prince William and Kate Middleton, I am beginning to believe that Kenya is truly Heaven on Earth! and i mean it.

Not only does this destination offer romantic getaways, but it is one of the few places that have marathons in the wild!!

Just this past weekend, the Kenya Airways Masai Mara Marathon took place with Ms. Timbilil winning the  marathon which was dubbed with a catchy phrase " Let the animals watch you - the World's wildest marathon! The event is held annually with this being the second year its happened.Proceeds are usually driven to community projects are as most of the lodges profits in our touristic sites especially game reserves, parks and conservancies.

This is not the only marathon that allows you to  run in the wild.Kenya also hosts the Lewa Marathon, which is an event that should be marked on your calenders!.The event very similar to the Masai Mara marathon, let's athletes show off their graced running sport in the help of raising funds for the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy whom i have previously spoken about. Lewa conservancy is geared at protecting the black rhino, especially from poachers!

It is important to not that, they also not only support the Rhinos but gear their profits to community development.

Kenya does not only have the best places to propose as Prince William discovered,it is also where Mr. President Obama's roots are traced in the village of Kogelo, in Kisumu City one of the three cities of Kenya. It is also the place where the newly named athlete of the year 2010, David Rudisha is from!!!

These are just a few reasons as to why Kenya is a force to reckon when it comes to the world's best country to go on vaccation, we also have the best beaches as i have already mentioned in my past blogs....
