World's best star beds....

A star bed is a bed which as the name suggests, you literally sleep under the stars!!!It is a spectacular, outrageous, amazing experience that i wish everyone would get to pertain.I got to go through the whole experience earlier this year in an awesome lodge known as Ilingwesi Camp, up in Laikipia, Kenya. The feeling you get when you toss and turn at night while you are looking at the stars and moon while still watching the wild natural scenery from your bed, or the feeling you get when you wake up staring at the warm sunset, its a feeling that can't be traded for anything in the world!!!

For nature lovers and people looking into going on honeymoon or people looking for a lifetime experience, i recommend any lodge in the wild or at a beach that lets you sleep on a star bed.Recently, travel.yahoo.com did a story on the best star beds in the world and i felt it was necessary for you guys to check this out;

1. Amangiri Resort - Lake Powell,Canyon point,Utah

2. Lion Sands Private Game Sanctuary - Sabi and Sand Game Reserve, South Africa

3. Blue Mountains Private Safaris - Blue Mountains National Park, Australia.

Top 10 destinations in East Africa..

This week i want to celebrate being an African.Africa is a continent that has 53 countries.Africa is always reported in the media as a continent full of pain, poverty, corruption, and even war. What they do not tell you is that Africa is a leading continent in providing "stuff" to the rest of the continents. In Africa, you can find Fruits & Vegetables,Flowers,Oil,minerals & stones,Diamonds,Gold name it, you are sure to get in here. Due to illiteracy out of low education standards, the other continents have somehow managed to "manipulate" Africans in order to attain the African resources to benefit themselves. In most circumstances, they process the raw product and come back to sell it to us!But i guess, you can blame them...

However, Africa slowly maturing and we are beginning to unfold our brains and so far we have proved we can do it!So i felt its my obligation to show you some of best destination in Africa and i am in no doubt that once you visit them..you will nod your head in agreement!

 2. Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe/Zambia - Absolute serenity!

3. Pyramids of Giza,Egypt - Believe it or not up till today, how the Egyptians built the pyramids remains a wonder and whats even amazing is the level of accuracy..yet we the common man believe that the olden day man was more literate than we..aint that funny!!

4. Djenne,Mali - founded in 800 AD, is one of sub-Saharan Africa's oldest cities. Situated on an island in the Niger River delta, Djenne was a natural hub for traders who shuttled their goods between the Sahara desert and the forests of Guinea.

5. Cape Town, South Africa - A majority of my blogs always list Cape town as a must see city! This city was even named as one of the world's most beautiful cites by Forbes.com .Hhhmm...do i need to stress any further that you should see the place?!

8. Virunga Mountains, Uganda - With only about 700 mountain gorillas left in the world, seeing them in the wild is something only a few people will ever have the chance to experience and you should be among the "a few"!

With all due respect, Africa is a continent not a country!

First and foremost, i mean this in respect to everyone.I do not mean to hate or create any sort of discrimination.
A few months ago, i had someone ask me if i am from Africa and of course i answered 'Yes, i am from Africa'
Then, i quite did not take it seriously up until i visited an African country a few weeks ago and the bell boy who worked in the hotel i was staying asked me"Ma'am,are you from Africa or the US?"

At first i was confused...why  on earth did he ask me if i was from Africa or the US?My brain went on a roll and only much later did i realise that since the country i was in had a high number of Arabs and white coloured people, the boy figured they were not part of Africa. You must be asking yourself and why did he suggest US? Take an obvious guess....President Barrack Obama!!!I am serious this is a real life story!

So to enlighten people who think Africa is one big country, here is great knowledge...Africa is a continent and has 53 beautiful different countries!

Best of the best: World's most beautiful cities!

The wise men say, pictures say a million words, i say visit where the picture was taken n say no words! My only wish;Nairobi was among the worlds most beautiful cities. We have beautiful people and even grater scenery than most of these do...i am not hatting! Just stating my view. Anyway i will let you be the judge....

1.What i like to call the love city - Paris,France.

2. Vancouver, Canada - best known for the Coast Mountains, Stanley Park and Eco-friendly green space.

3. Sydney, Australia - Always makes me remember the Olympics. Sydney is best know for Sydney Harbour Bridge and the surrounding water, Sydney Opera House and sandy Bondi Beach.

4. Florence,Italy - This country makes me think of designer shoes and great leather bags!Florence city is best know for Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore, Ponte Vecchio and Piazza della Signoria.

5.Venice, Italy - Now this is just unfair!Italy gets two of its cities in the most beautiful list!!Venice is best know for Canals and gondolas, St Mark's Basilica & absence of cars. I mean it..Absence of cars!!

 6. Cape Town, South Africa - I usually get jealous of SA coz they always shine over the rest of the african countries. This is one of those times! The reason behind them being on this list is the Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch botanical garden, V&A Waterfront.

7. San Fransisco, USA -  I have never been here, thats for sure!but i always thought of it as boring. How wrong i was! San Fransisco is best known for Golden Gate Bridge and Park, cable cars and Fisherman’s Wharf.

8. Chicago, USA - Hhhmmm..why do i think these guys are being favored!Chicago is best known for the Millennium Park, the Magnificent Mile and the shore of Lake Michigan.

9.New York, USA - Just me saying number 9 is New York, makes me hear Alicia Keys singing, u know New York........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!and the marvelous Rap of Beyonce's hubby!LOL!!This city is best known for Central Park- which makes me think of friends, Empire State Building and never-ending skyline !!This is definitely the place i want to visit!!! Top 10 of The World's Greatest Historic Sites....

I love History.I love anything that has to do with the past.I find it very interesting, entertaining yet very educative and those are a few reasons as to why i felt it was necessary to share these awesome, mind blowing best of the best historic sites!!!

1.Machu Picchu  - Located in southern Peru, this city lies on top of a mountain. It is famously referred to as the “Lost City of the Incas.” It was also named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in 2007.

2.Tikal - Located in Guatemala, this Mayan city-state is one of the largest and best preserved ruins of the civilization.Tikal was a dominant force in the Mayan world. It’s a wonderful place to explore.

 3. The Pyramids at Giza - Over 3,000 years later and we still don’t have a good idea as to how the Egyptians built them. The Pyramids align to the stars and the solstices and contain vast chambers we still haven’t opened. The largest one, called the Great Pyramid, was built by the Pharaoh Khufu. Also in this area is the Sphinx, another historical site that baffles researchers with its own mysteries.

4. AngKor Wat - Located in Cambodia, this ancient city  was the center of the Khmer empire that once ruled most of Southeast Asia. This empire went extinct, but not before building amazing temples and buildings that were reclaimed by the jungle for hundreds of years.

5.Petra - In my previous post i listed this as a "must see in my lifetime place".And i guess im not wrong!!Carved into a canyon in Arabah, Jordan, Petra was made famous by Indiana Jones’ third movie. It was “discovered” in 1812 by a Swiss explorer. Prior to that, it was unknown to world. Though its founding is not known, it appears that it had settlers as early as the 6th century B.C. under Roman rule.

6.Stonehenge - Located near Salisbury, England this megalithic structure is over 3,000 years old, and its stones come all the way from Wales. Scholars still are not sure how they got the stones from Wales and have tried to replicate the feat with dismal results. The attraction is now fenced off, and you can no longer go into the circle. Visitors can only walk around the attraction.
Reminds me of the Flintstones!!!LOL
7. The Colosseum and the Forum - They are right next to each other. Remnants of a civilization that once controlled the “known” world, these sites are breathtaking not only for their beauty but for of their history and age. This is the spot Caesar walked and the area where gladiators battled to death. The Colosseum has slowly crumbled throughout the ages and much of it is restricted, especially the floor and basement where everything was organized.

Caesar & gladiators ....hhmmm...i don't think u want to know what im thinking!!All i have in my mind is those Epic movies with hunkies like Brad Pitt in Troy!!LOL...I am a woman after all!

8.  Parthenon - Currently getting a make over, the Parthenon is still amazing. The ancient temple to Athena stands as a symbol of the power of Athens and to the Greek Civilization. .The surrounding ruins, temples, and buildings are equally as wondrous. Built in the 5th century BC, the temple used to house the treasury.

Looks like one of those Greek gods or goddesses should pose outside this building!
9. Easter Island - Located out in the Pacific Ocean and special territory of Chile, these statues are the only thing left of culture that once lived here. These gigantic carved heads are just another reminder that primitive people are not really all that primitive.Although , i must say...the name is pretty funny!makes me think of Easter eggs!

How did they do this?!

10. Taj Mahal, India - Built in the 1600s, this building is a testament to undying love. Located in Agra, India, this white marble tomb built for a Emperor Shah Jahan’s deceased wife is a must see for everyone.

This place is just beautiful...period.
